SWAT Roundup International Obstacle Course World Champions 2008
Dec 1st thru Dec 6th members of the MCSO Special Weapons and Tactics team (SWAT) traveled to Orlando to compete in the International SWAT Roundup. The Roundup is basically the Olympics for SWAT teams. Teams travel to Orlando from around the world to compete. This year there were 60 teams competing in the week long event. The competition included lots of shooting, running, rappelling, and physical challenges. The Marion County Sheriff's Office SWAT team took 1ST PLACE in the obstacle course event and finished 13th overall for the week. The winning members of the Obstacle Course team are:

- Sgt. Carlton Curtis
- Deputy Cody Hoppel
The SWAT team trained very hard for the weeks events and are very proud of their accomplishments. The SWAT team would like to recognize that without the support of the Sheriff's Office administration this endeavor could never have been accomplished.
