Lieutenant Rick Englebright

Lieutenant Englebright began his career at the Sheriff’s Office in 1989 after completing Police Standards.  He attended Corrections Cross-over school in late 1989, becoming a certified Corrections officer.  After spending approximately a year in the Corrections Bureau, he was transferred in 1990 to the Community Policing Bureau as a Deputy.

During his time in Patrol, he worked different areas in the south end of the county. In 1994 he became a Field Training Officer and also attended numerous instructors’ courses to enhance his ability to train others. He obtained certificates for instructor’s techniques, firearms instructor, driving instructor and PIT instructor.  In addition to being an instructor, he is an armorer for the agency.   

In 2000 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  One of his responsibilities was to assist with the Field Training Program, and in 2002 he became the Commander.  He started the first academy for new deputies in 2003, allowing policies and procedures of the agency to be conveyed in a more structured setting.  The academy also included high liability training in such areas as firearms and driving.  In January 2005 the position of the Field Training Program Commander was turned into a full-time position and Lt. Englebright was transferred to the Training Division.

In November of 2005, Lt. Englebright graduated from the first Criminal Justice Administration Command Officer Management School held at St. Leo University.

In December of 2006 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant within the Training Division where he continues to be in charge of the Field Training Program along with assisting with the training duties that involve the agency as a whole.

Sergeant Al Chapman

Sergeant Al Chapman

Sergeant Chapman began his career in 1981 as a Corrections officer with the Department of Corrections.  He later took a position as Lieutenant with the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office.  While with Bradford Sheriff’s Office, he attended Santa Fe Community College Police Cross-over school and received his law enforcement certification in 1985. 

In 1986, he moved to Marion County to work for our Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy within the Community Policing Bureau.  He became certified as a Field Training officer and remained a training officer until he moved out of state in 1990.

In 1992 Sgt Chapman returned to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Assistant, moving to a Corrections Officer position shortly after.   
He was promoted to a Corrections Sergeant in 2000.  In November of 2005, Sgt. Chapman graduated from the first Criminal Justice Administration Command Officer Management School held at St. Leo University.

In July of 2006, Sgt. Chapman was transferred to the Training Division as the Corrections Training Coordinator.  While his main duties are coordinating the training for both the sworn and civilian employees of the County Jail, Sgt. Chapman also facilitates the Sergeants’ Academy and serves as an armorer for the agency.  He is a certified instructor for Firearms, Tasers and the ReAct Belt used by Corrections while moving inmates.

Sergeant Sharon Falcone

Sergeant Sharon Falcone

Sergeant Falcone began her career with Marion County Sheriff’s Office as a dispatcher in June of 1983, after having received her BA in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida and her Police Standards from Central Florida Community College. 

In 1985, she attended Corrections Standards at CFCC and became a Correctional Officer at the County Jail.  In August of 1986, she returned to Communications and became a shift supervisor in 1988.  Communications shift supervisors were given the rank of sergeant in 1993 and Sharon continued as a Communications Shift Sergeant until June of 2000.  At that time, she became the Communications Training Sergeant and began organizing their current training program.  In 2004, she graduated from the Administrative Officer’s Management Program (AOMP) at North Carolina State University.

In 2006, she was transferred to the Training Division where her main responsibilities still revolve around the training of Communications Officers.  She also assists in teaching classes for other members of the agency including deputy recruits, citizen community patrol groups and support staff.
