Welcome to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Unit.

The Internal Affairs Unit is established to conduct staff inspections and investigate complaints against the Agency or its employees.  All Marion County Sheriff’s Office supervisors are responsible for initiating a preliminary investigation into any and all complaints involving employees of the Agency and whenever practical, take action against subordinates for violations of Agency policy.  Serious violations of policy, law, and incidents that require formal or in-depth investigations that cannot be resolved by a line supervisor will be investigated by the Internal Affairs Unit.  Allegations can include use of excessive force, unlawful arrests, and criminal employee misconduct.

Citizen’s initiating complaints referred to the Internal Affairs unit will be notified of the case’s assignment to the unit and periodically provided status updates when applicable.  Citizen’s that initiate a complaint resulting in an internal affairs investigation will be notified of the findings of an internal investigations.

The Internal Affairs Unit is committed to fully investigate and resolve all complaints referred to the unit for investigation.
