OCALA: On May 28, 2006, Marion County Fire Rescue responded to a mobile home fire at 12050 SE 123RD Avenue in Ocklawaha. Once the residence was safe to enter, firefighters discovered a body among the debris.
At 6:40 A.M., the Marion County Sheriff's Office was notified about the body and investigators were dispatched. Upon arrival, they found the mobile home to be completely destroyed. They immediately began interviewing neighborhood residents to gather information on who lived in the mobile home.
So far, the investigation has revealed that 3 men in their early 20's are renting the mobile home. There is no electrical hookup and neighbors advised the men normally stay elsewhere at night. A red pickup truck was parked in the front yard, but it is unknown if it belongs to one of the renters or someone else.
The body was recovered and taken to the Medical Examiners Office in Leesburg where an autopsy will be performed to establish the cause of death and identity of the deceased. Due to the intense heat from the fire, the body is unrecognizable and couldn't be identified.
Identification will have to be made through medical records.
