MARION COUNTY JAIL INSPECTION A SUCCESS!

On 01-31-08, the Marion County Jail underwent inspection by the Regional Peer Review Inspection Team consisting of members from Alachua, Levy, Putnam, Gilchrist and Sumter Counties. The team reviews Inmate Housing, Food Services, the Medical Facility, Security and Control, Sanitation, Construction Standards and Policies and Procedures, among others to see that the jail meets standards set forth by the Florida Model Jail Standards.

During the course of our last inspection, the team completed a 28 page report outlining codes and standards for each area reviewed. Team members were highly complimentary on the cleanliness of the facility and the professionalism displayed by all Corrections personnel. The Marion County Jail was found to be in full compliance with the Florida Model Jail Standards. Each inspector gave an overview in a final report during an exit interview. Final reports indicated the Marion County Jail met or exceeded the expected standards.

Sheriff Ed Dean and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office are very proud of the outcome of this Regional Peer Review Inspection. We look forward to continuing in our commitment to excellence and customer service.
