COUNTY-WIDE FOOD DRIVE KICKOFF

Beginning today, June 2, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a county-wide food drive through the month of June. Collection boxes, decorated by elementary school students, have been placed at each district office throughout the county for non-perishable food items. The collected food will be donated to Interfaith, a community not-for-profit organization that provides food, shelter and clothing for people in need.

In an economy in which more people need aid and there have been fewer donations, we are asking the community to get back in the giving spirit. Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of the “buy-one-get-one-free” sales at supermarkets and donate the free items to the food drive. Other donation items can be found in your pantry, such as: canned soups, fruits and vegetables, pasta and rice.
