OCKLAWAHA DISTRICT CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Ocklawaha District Office located at 13758 SE Hwy 25. After celebrating the ground breaking on 01-16-08, Etheridge Construction has worked diligently to complete the building project ahead of schedule and under budget! The original Ocklawaha office was established in 1977 but had been located in a rental building until the completion of the MCSO owned building.

The new building was funded by a voter-approved sales tax initiative. Construction and completion plans saved roughly $12,000 by using recycled equipment, inmate labor and donations from citizens. With over 3,000 sq. ft. and a community room that seats 25, the district serves approximately 17,000 citizens in an area of 135 sq. miles.

The Ocklawaha District is powered by 10 deputies, 35 volunteers, a detective, secretary, marine unit and marine deputy. MCSO is extremely proud of the hard work and excellent use of resources that went into this project. We look forward to our continued efforts in providing exceptional service to the community.
