HOME INVASION SUSPECTS CAUGHT: 80 YEAR-OLD VICTIM RECOGNIZED THEIR VOICES

Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies tracked down and arrested home invasion suspects within an hour of the early morning crime. The 80 year-old victim recognized the voices of the suspects, who (the male) had done odd jobs around the house. Patrol deputies used that information to develop leads and found a pickup used by the suspects in the parking lot of local motel. The deputies made contact with the suspects inside a motel room and soon realized the stuff inside the truck and on the hotel bed belonged to the victim. In jail are:

• Christina Lyn Brick, 34, of Ocala
• Jason Michael Lain, 31, of Ocala

Both suspects are facing:
• one (1) count of Armed Home Invasion Robbery
• one (1) count of Tampering with Victim
• two (2) counts of child neglect

During the robbery, the suspects made threats to shoot the victim, who said she heard at least three gun shots. While the suspects went through the home to take property, the victim remained motionless in her bed. The victim said she could hear the suspects calling out each other’s name.

A second witness told detectives the suspects’ children (7 and 1 year-olds) were left alone in the motel room. The children are now with the Department of Children and Families.
