On Friday, February 15, 2013, detectives arrested Jeremy James Murray on First Degree Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse charges. Murray is responsible for the death of his six-week-old daughter, Ember Murray.
On January 30, 2013, baby Ember was brought to the hospital with a severe head injury. The baby was transported to Shands in Gainesville where she was placed on life support after physicians discovered multiple skull fractures. On February 1, baby Ember was taken off of life support. An autopsy was performed the following day.
The medical examiner reported from the autopsy results that the baby’s injuries were not consistent with Murray’s original statement that he was “carrying the baby and fell into a basinet.” Detectives concluded Murray was home alone with baby Ember and solely responsible for the serious injuries that ultimately caused her death.
