Welcome to the Southeast District of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. I am Lieutenant Daniel Rosa and it is truly an honor to be your District Commander.
The Southeast District encompasses Silver Springs, the attraction and State park, then goes South down Baseline road, over Maricamp road, and stretches back West to the Interstate. The southern border of the District is Southeast 80th street. This district has numerous residential areas within it such as, Indian Pines, Summerton South, Dalton Woods, Lemon Wood and the Ocala Country Club, to name a few. There are also numerous commercial businesses that take advantage of the Baseline road, Maricamp road and the south highway 441 corridors. The latest population figures indicate that this area has approximately 29, 488 residents living within this district’s boundaries, which totals 44.62 square miles. Currently there are 16 deputies, and a secretary assigned to the Southeast District. My office is located at the South Multi-District office, which is at 3260 SE 80th street. This is in the median of south US 441. We are open Monday through Friday from 8 to 5. We have a community meeting room that is available for non-profit groups to use, at no charge. Our office number is 352-438-5940. We have a Citizens on Patrol (COPS) volunteer group that patrols the many neighborhoods and businesses in the Southeast District. If you would like to join and volunteer your time, please call me at the office.
The deputies and I have a proactive law enforcement philosophy, and we will always take the time to assist you in any way that we can.
I look forward to serving you and your community. If I can be of any assistance please stop by or call me at the South Multi District Office.
I am Lieutenant Scott Byrd and I would like to take a moment to introduce you to the South Central District. As the District Commander of the area, it is a pleasure to serve the citizens of this great community.
The South Central District is located south of the Ocala City Limits, but encompasses the Cities of Belleview and Summerfield. The district covers approximately 54 square miles with an estimated population of about 26,000 residents.
The district is also home to a portion of the Florida Greenways and Trails, which is a great recreation site for walkers, hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. Paradise Springs is also located just south of the Sheriff’s Office Sub-station. Unlike many springs open to divers there is no large pool and no stream or run flowing from it. Paradise Springs is a “Karst Window” – an opening to an underground stream.
The South Central District houses 16 patrol deputies and a secretary. These dedicated men and women patrol the district and respond to approximately 10 percent of the calls for service within the unincorporated areas of Marion County. The district also utilizes 130 Community Watch Volunteers to patrol Del Webb Spruce Creek and another 16 volunteers to patrol the district.
The men and women of this district take great pleasure in serving this community. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns, compliments or suggestions that will help us to better serve you.
