DIGITAL SAFETY

The internet and digital technology are an important part of our everyday lives, but they also come with risks. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit has compiled digital safety resources to help children, parents, families, and community members better understand those risks and stay safer online.

This page includes links to trusted organizations and resources covering topics such as online privacy, social media safety, cyberbullying, online exploitation, sextortion, identity protection, and more. Take a moment to explore these resources and learn how you can help protect yourself and your family in the digital world.

REPORTING CYBER EXPLOITATION

If you suspect a child is being sexually exploited or victimized online, visit the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s CyberTipline to report suspected online child exploitation and help connect children and families with resources and support.

If you are aware of sexual exploitation happening now in Marion County, please call (352) 732-9111 (non-emergency) or 911 (emergency).

If a nude, partially nude, or sexually explicit image of you was taken when you were under 18 and has been posted or may be posted online, visit the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s Take It Down resource to learn how you can take steps to help stop the sharing of the image.
