RITA SCHINGS

Rita Schings was reported missing on July 10, 2018, after family members stated they had not had any contact with her since October 2017. During the investigation into Rita’s disappearance, deputies learned they had responded to her home on October 13, 2017, to serve a warrant for her arrest. When deputies arrived, Rita fled out the back door of the home to evade arrest. Family members told detectives that Rita struggled with methamphetamine use, and her boyfriend at the time, Travis Luke, stated she was under the influence of drugs the day she ran from the Sheriff’s Office.

Major Crimes detectives later learned that after Rita fled her home in October 2017, she met up with Michael Victor Ferioli (DOB: 1/25/1983), who gave her a ride. Michael stated Rita approached him asking for a ride and was acting extremely paranoid. He told detectives that while driving her to another residence, Rita suddenly began yelling for him to pull over. Michael stated he stopped on NE 61st St. Rd., just south of Lake Eaton, where Rita jumped out of the truck window and ran into the woods.

If you saw Rita or know what happened to her after receiving the ride from Michael, please contact our Major Crimes detectives at 352-732-9111. Even if you think the information may seem insignificant, it could be the missing piece that helps bring Rita home.
