TIMEOUT FOR CRIME PREVENTION

We always want to make sure our citizens stay safe. Here are 30 second tips to help you make informed decisions on how to help you from becoming a victim.

DON’T FALL VICTIM TO SCAMS

It’s a horrible feeling knowing you just sent your hard-earned money to a criminal. There are ways to prevent this. One, never give out personal information over the phone. Two, you have the power to VERIFY! Three, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Stay Safe!

STOP THESE PORCH PIRATES!

We are all shopping online more and more. If you are expecting deliveries and are not going to be home, have someone pick them up for you. Use a video camera at the drop off area. Report suspicious individuals in your neighborhood. Stop these Porch Pirates.

SECURE YOUR WEAPON; SAVE A LIFE!

This could be a fatal mistake. Secure all weapons in a locked cabinet that cannot be accessed by children. Leaving a gun in an unlocked vehicle is asking for trouble. Be responsible, don’t let criminals have easy access to your weapons and save a life.

STAY SAFE WHILE SHOPPING!

We want you safe when you are done shopping. Make sure you park in a well-lit area. Have your keys at the ready when walking to the car. Don’t leave packages where the criminals can see them and keep your doors locked. Report suspicious individuals

SWIMMING POOL SAFETY

This Florida heat is brutal. One of the best remedies is a nice, cool swimming pool. But not everyone knows how to swim. If you have a child in your home that hasn’t learned to swim yet, take extra precautions like installing door locks that a toddler cannot reach, motion alarms and lockable pool area gates. Toddlers are fast which allows them to get into danger very quickly, so be prepared and make a special effort to watch them very closely.

KEEP YOUR HOME SAFE!

Not home? There are ways to help protect yourself from thieves. One, make sure your home has “natural surveillance.” by keeping your bushes trimmed and have enough lighting on the outside of your house. Doing these things reduces the criminal’s ability to hide...If they can't hide, they move on. Also, have cameras this is a large deterrent to keep the criminal element away from your home. We also have a V.A.A.C.A. program, so if you are going away, stop by one of our district offices and fill out the form so our deputies and volunteers can check on your home while you are away.
