Lieutenant Scott Byrd Northwest District Commander

Lieutenant Scott Byrd
Northwest District Commander

Hello! I’m Lieutenant Scott Byrd and I’m the District Commander for the Northwest District for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. I have been serving with the Sheriff’s Office since 1995. During this time, I have worked as a Patrol Deputy, Property Crimes Investigator, Major Crimes Investigator, Patrol Supervisor, Mounted Unit Commander, Drug Unit Supervisor, Jail Supervisor, and District Commander.

The district is comprised of numerous communities to include: Northwest Ocala, the Town of Reddick, the Town of McIntosh, Orange Lake, Shiloh, and Blitchton. The Northwest District has several populated areas but is mostly made up of large horse and cattle farms. It is home to the Horses in the Sun (H.I.T.S) competition, which draws equestrians from all over the world.

There are currently 13 deputies assigned to the Northwest district to provide quality service for the residents of the county. There are also three volunteer groups within the district. These volunteers assist law enforcement by being the extra eyes and ears in our community to deter crime.

Our Northwest District office is located at 8311 North Highway 441 in Ocala, FL. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or you just want to stop by to say hello, please feel free to do so!

Lieutenant Eric Owens North Central District Commander

Lieutenant Eric Owens
North Central District Commander

Hello, my name is Lieutenant Eric Owens, District Commander for the North Central District. I began my career with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in 1995 as a Patrol Deputy. During my tenure, I have served as a Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer, Property Crimes Detective, Under Cover Drug Agent, and a Hostage/Crisis Negotiator.

In 2006, I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and have since served as a Patrol Sergeant, Fugitive Apprehension Unit Commander and Commander of the Crisis Negotiations Unit. I am now honored to serve the citizens of Northern Marion County as your District Commander.

The North Central District is staffed with 12 Patrol Deputies and our District Secretary. These deputies are dedicated to protect and serve the citizens of Marion County and patrol the communities of Citra, Lakes and Meadows, Sparr, Anthony, Oak, Silver Springs and all of the neighborhoods in between.

The district has one citizen volunteer group, North Central COPS. These volunteers serve as the eyes and ears for the district and report any suspicious activity to on duty deputies.

I personally meet each month with community groups and neighborhood watch groups such as the Citra Improvement Society and the Lakes and Meadows Crime Watch.  At these meetings, I give an up to date crime report for the specific area and address needs for the community.

The North Multi District Office is open Monday- Friday from 8 a.m. to 5p.m. If you ever need my assistance, you can either stop by the office or call me.
